PANI was founded on the idea that Pakistan and the Pakistani American community need durable institutions — not just moments of activism — to build lasting influence.
PANI's vision is to be a leader and catalyst insuring that Pakistani Americans have a voice and make a significant contribution to the renewal and quality of life in the United States — and to contribute to their motherland through political activism and economic wellbeing.
PANI serves the interests of the Pakistani American community in the United States. We work to promote a positive, accurate image of Pakistan and Pakistani Americans, and to increase their effective participation in America's political and public policy arenas.
PANI's current priorities, drawn directly from our strategic plan.
Expand the Congressional Pakistan Caucus by recruiting new members and hosting regular events.
Empower Pakistani Americans with greater socio-political representation at every level of government.
Project an accurate, positive image of Pakistan and Pakistani Americans, and correct misrepresentation.
Develop local and regional Pakistani political activist groups, and network them nationally.
Get Pakistani Americans registered and active in national and local elections.
Support qualified Pakistani Americans seeking commissions, agencies, and ambassadorial appointments.
A short history of the institute.
PANI is proposed in Washington, D.C., in response to a shift in Congress and a recognized need for a permanent, independent institution to represent Pakistani American interests — modeled in part on groups like the Arab American Institute.
PANI establishes its first two departments — Congressional Affairs and Communications — under a modular strategy, adding capacity as resources allow.
PANI continues to support the Congressional Pakistan Caucus, publish FocusPakistan, and organize Pakistani Americans around voter participation, civil rights, and public policy. update with current milestones
PANI is led by a national leadership team drawn from community leaders across the United States. add current leadership bios
