Encourage and increase Pakistani voter participation and activity in the electoral process.

Congressional Affairs & Public Policy

Represent Pakistani Americans before local, state, and national legislative bodies, and support the Congressional Pakistan Caucus.

  • Setting a legislative agenda in coordination with the Pakistan Caucus in Congress.
  • Tracking relevant legislation and preparing testimony and position papers.
  • Maintaining a national legislative scorecard of lawmakers' voting records.
  • Hosting policy briefings with the administration, Congress, and think tanks.
  • Forming alliances with other Pakistani and non-Pakistani organizations on shared goals.

Communications & Media

Keep Pakistani Americans informed, and open consistent channels for their voices in mainstream media.

  • Growing FocusPakistan, PANI's newsletter, including a print edition alongside the electronic one.
  • Building out email and communication networks to reach members quickly.
  • Placing op-eds and articles with local and national newspapers.
  • Continuously improving this website as a hub for news and resources.

Research, Information & Publications

Provide policymakers, media, and the public with authoritative, current information on Pakistan and Pakistani Americans.

  • Briefing elected officials, think tanks, and academic institutions on issues affecting the community.
  • Researching and maintaining demographic and political data on Pakistani Americans.
  • Publishing brochures, booklets, and statistics available to the public.
  • Maintaining a directory of Pakistani American elected and appointed officials.

Training

Identify and train Pakistani American leaders for effective social and political action.

What this looks like in practice

  • Running a PANI Leadership Council with a structured curriculum.
  • Offering workshops on grassroots organizing: voter registration, campaign volunteering, and fundraising.
  • Hosting a lecture and seminar series connecting leaders with elected officials and policymakers.
  • Building communication and media skills among emerging community leaders.

Civil Rights

Protest anti-Pakistani bias and defend the legal rights of Pakistani Americans.

  • Producing materials that raise awareness of anti-Pakistani bias and hate crimes.
  • Testifying before legislative and public forums on discrimination and civil rights.
  • Forming local hate crime committees within PANI chapters.
